There have been some offhanded mentions that game devs will have the option of uploading smaller versions of the games just for Deck, with the assets at a resolution appropriate for an 800p screen. I guess an extensive game collection is going to take piles of the things, using them more or less like game cartridges. Maybe the 512 ones will go massively on sale on Black Friday or something, but even so. But those tend to get pretty expensive beyond 256 GB. Which obviously means going over to micro-SD cards. Because even a couple of games that big will completely fill up even the highest model. But still, that's an absolutely shocking amount of memory. They need the appropriate assets for much higher resolution than I'm used to playing.
